GIOVANNITTI HOUSE

My final project is the Giovannitti house located in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, United States. The house was built for the arquitect Richard Meier between 1979 and 1983. This is a small house for two people, immersed in a quiet green area surrounded other houses, where the design is intended to privacy which has become a functional necessity that the architect wants to give to the habitants.

The house have 3 levels. In the ground floor are the kitchen, the garage, the guest room, one bathroon and the dining room. If you go up to the second floor you find the living room and main entrance next to the terrace above the garage. The library and principal bedroom are located on the third level. A staircase next to the entrance connects the three levels. In the public areas were used large glass surfaces, while the more private areas were protected with glass blocks.

The structure of Giovannitti house was built with reinforced concrete and consist in cubes and big columns. The materials used inside of the house are concrete, brick, glass and wood.

Giovannitti house has a wonderful peculiarity, if the viewer stands on the third floor and you see over the railings downs, inside the house, can see the living room located on the second floor.

This house was designed for the habitants can enjoy the luxury and comfort of the house spaces, has great places for your habitants, they can feel free inside and outside of the house. The light plays a very important role because the house has many glass windows which allow the appreciation of outside landscapes seen from inside the house.
